Delhi. February 28. INTERFAX-The PSLV-C51 launch vehicle successfully launched Brazil's Amazonia-1 optical Earth observation satellite into orbit on Sunday, along with 18 other spacecraft, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said.
The rocket was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, located on the island of Sriharikota off the southeast coast of India.
"Mission accomplished," the organization said.
The Amazonia-1 satellite, weighing about 640 kg, is the first spacecraft created by the National Space Institute of Brazil. It will transmit data on the country's agriculture and the state of forests in the Amazon region.
