Saudi Arabia is discussing with Russia the supply of the S-400 Triumph air defense system and Su-35 fighter jets.
The head of the Rostec corporation, Sergey Chemezov, said in an interview with RT that Moscow and Riyadh are negotiating the supply of S-400 systems and Su-35 fighters. He clarified that the contract has not yet been signed.
Recall that for the first time information that Saudi Arabia intends to buy from Russia the S-400 air defense system and Su-35 multi-purpose fighters appeared in 2017. But, according to a number of sources, the deal did not take place due to the threat of US sanctions.
But the contract for the supply of heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek" was concluded.
It is likely that interest in the S-400 air defense system in Riyadh could increase after the attack on the oil refinery in September 2019. The American Patriot system could not then repel the attack of a swarm of drones. Russian President Vladimir Putin also suggested that Saudi Arabia purchase the S-300 and S-400 from Russia in connection with these events.
