Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. February 24. INTERFAX - AVN-Calculations of the S-400 "Triumph" anti-aircraft missile systems have taken up combat duty on the island of Sakhalin, the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported on Wednesday.
"The calculations of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems have taken up combat duty on Sakhalin Island. The readiness to take up combat duty, to protect the air borders of the Russian Federation, was checked personally by the commander of the army of the Air Force and Air Defense, Lieutenant General Vladimir Kravchenko, " the report says.
With the calculations of the S-400, a training was conducted to repel an air strike of a simulated enemy, the press service of the VVO reports. The servicemen fulfilled the standards for the transfer of the complexes from the marching position to the combat position, conducted a search, escort, and classification of conditional air targets.
"All of the targets were destroyed by training (electronic) missile launches at the entrance to the affected area. The commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Army highly appreciated the level of training of the air defense forces on duty on Sakhalin, " the press service notes.
S-400 Triumph long-range AAMS (JSC "EKO Concern "Almaz-Antey"), capable of ranges up to 400 km to hit aerodynamic targets, and ranges up to 60 km - ballistic targets flying at speeds of up to 4.8 km/s at altitudes from a few meters to several tens of kilometers.
The S-400 is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. The system is designed to defeat strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other means of air attack in the conditions of electronic and other types of counteraction.
