MOSCOW, 24 Feb-RIA Novosti. Rostec enterprises have started preparing the latest heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 ("Tosochka") for state tests, they are scheduled to begin in March, the general director of RT-Capital LLC (part of Rostec) told RIA Novosti") Kirill Fedorov.

"The military division of PJSC Motovilikhinskie Zavody and NPO SPLAV named after Ganichev have started preparing the TOS-2 Tosochka combat vehicle for state tests, which will begin within a month. The work is being carried out as part of the implementation of the state defense order for 2021. Based on the results of the tests, a decision will be made on the timing of putting the flamethrower system into service," Fedorov said.

"Tosochka" differs from the TOS-1 "Pinocchio" and TOS-1A "Solntsepek" currently in service with improved tactical and technical characteristics. The complex is mounted on the wheeled chassis of the Ural car with increased cross-country capability, has an increased firing range, automated aiming, firing and fire control systems. In addition, the heavy flamethrower is equipped with a crane-manipulator and does not need a transport-loading machine.

"Our main task was to make the system more mobile and increase the efficiency of combat missions. "Tosochka" can work both with old rockets that were used in the "Sun", and with a number of new ammunition. Creating new projectiles, we wanted to achieve, first of all, an increase in their range and power, "Alexander Smirnov, the general director of" ALLOY", told the agency.

The production of the combat vehicle is carried out by CJSC "Special Design Bureau" of the Motovilikha Plants group of enterprises, which is under the management of RT-Capital.

For the first time, "Tosochka" was presented in June 2020 at the Victory Parade in Moscow, when four combat vehicles drove through Red Square as part of a mechanized brigade. New heavy flamethrower systems have already begun to arrive in the troops, where they are being tested. In case of successful completion of state tests, "Cosacca" will be put into service.
