A remote-controlled combat module guarding the launch position of an intercontinental ballistic missile in the Kozelsky division of the Strategic Missile Forces near Kaluga has been shown on video for the first time. The story from the rocket compound was released on the TV channel "Zvezda".
For the first time, the existence of combat robot guards for strategic missile launchers was reported in August 2020 by the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel-General Sergei Karakaev. According to him, the Kozelskaya division was the first unit equipped with a new generation of defense systems. In addition to the robotic combat modules, these are technical means that detect any attempt to enter the protected area.
Approaches to the launch positions of Yars ballistic missiles are under the round-the-clock supervision of hundreds of extra cameras: tele - and thermal imaging. The duty shift watches the screens, and when an intruder appears, he is warned on the speakerphone that he has wandered into the wrong place. The correct behavior in such a situation is one thing: stay in place until the patrol arrives. If the intruder behaves incorrectly, the robot guard enters the case.
It is a gray concrete cylinder two meters high and the same width with a green armored hood on top. At the command of the operator, the hood reclines and a combat module with eight grenade launchers, a machine gun and smoke bombs goes up, the press service of the Strategic Missile Forces told RG. The module is also equipped with a TV camera and is able to conduct a circular attack within a radius of 400 meters. The system can work on the operator's commands or operate completely automatically.
