MOSCOW, 21 Feb-RIA Novosti. The Russian heavy attack drone S-70 "Hunter" is capable of hitting targets on command from the Su-57 fighter, said test pilot Yevgeny Frolov, who controls the "Hunter"from the ground.
As previously reported, the "Hunter" is created within the framework of the concept of "faithful slave" and must act in conjunction with the Su-57 and use the entire range of weapons of the fifth-generation fighter. At the same time, the final decision on the use of weapons by the Hunter drone will be made by the pilot of the leader aircraft.
"There is no need to say anything there. Just him (Su-57) there he determines to whom what goal to assign, and he (the" Hunter"), accordingly, attacks it. Moreover, it attacks with information from the plane, "Frolov said in the program" Vesti Nedeli " on the TV channel "Russia 1" as part of the story about the interaction in the sky of the "Hunter" with the leading Su-57 aircraft.
Currently, the ground operator's seat of the Hunter is equipped with control knobs, as in a manned fighter, a keyboard and several liquid crystal multifunction screens that display various information from the onboard systems and cameras of the device.
"In the future, this device will be purely automatic, there are already such controls, most likely, will not be, and manual control, probably, will not be at all," - said Frolov.
The S-70 "Hunter "was developed in the Sukhoi Design Bureau and is made according to the"flying wing" aerodynamic scheme. According to open sources, the length of the drone is 14 meters, the wingspan is 19 meters, the take-off weight is 20 tons. "Hunter" has a maximum flight speed of up to 1000 kilometers per hour and is made with the use of materials that reduce radar visibility.
The first flight of the "Hunter", as reported in the Ministry of Defense, took place on August 3, 2019. According to RIA Novosti sources, as part of the flight tests, the first model of the Hunter has already begun to use weapons: the UAV performed flights with functional simulators of air – to-air missiles, and also bombed a ground target at the Ashuluk test site.
As a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti on February 12, at present the Novosibirsk Aircraft Factory named after him. Chkalov leads the construction of three more prototypes of the drone "Hunter".
