Tests of the latest T-14 Armata tank with ammunition from Rosatom specialists began in Kubinka. And that's a good sign.
At the IDEX-2021 exhibition, the T-14 Armata tank is being presented for the first time outside of Russia. Attention to this presentation is hyped. Not by chance - only our designers managed to implement the third post-war generation tank in metal. Recall that the first post-war generation is the T-54 and its development, the second-the T-64 and again its development. And the T-14 is a full-fledged third-generation tank. Nowhere in the world even the design of tanks of this generation has not yet begun. So our country is the undisputed leader in the global tank building industry.
Andrey Terlikov, the general designer of the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering, where Armata was designed, who works on IDEX-2021, said that deliveries to the troops of the first mass-produced T-14 tanks will begin in 2022. He also said that " state tests of this car are underway, we expect their completion in the next year or two." And this is probably the most important thing.
"Armata" participated in parades, it was repeatedly said that it was being run-in in the troops. However, there was a big BUT. Until recently, the machine did not start state tests, without which there could be no question of any deliveries to the troops. They should not be conducted at factory or army training grounds, but only at the 38th Research and Testing Institute of the Ministry of Defense. Without the approval of this institute, which is located in Kubinka near Moscow, no tank or armored personnel carrier can be delivered to the troops.
There was a period when the importance of the Cuban test tankers tried to level out. The unique and completely self-sufficient institute itself was even made a division of another institute that had never been engaged in armored vehicles. Meanwhile, there is no such thing as the "Cuban test site", as it was once called, in the world, except for the Aberdeen in the United States.
Finally, everything is back to normal. The scientific center in Kubinka has once again become independent, and the opinion of its specialists will be decisive.
As far as we know, the T-14 "Armata" at the end of last year began intensive testing in the 38th Research Institute. Based on their results, decisions will be made on conducting further tests, including military ones. According to, Using, now Uralvagonzavod discuss defense issues of military trials "Armata", the readiness of the military infrastructure to operate tanks and operator training. Also on the agenda is the issue of reducing the cost of production.
And another interesting information, one of the standard high-power ammunition for the "Armata" is being developed by Rosatom specialists. It is clear that this will not be a nuclear projectile, but definitely - the most powerful in the world.
