The Russian Defense Ministry has released a video showing Russian Su-27 fighter jets escorting a group of French Air Force warplanes over the Black Sea.
The incident on Wednesday, February 17, was reported to journalists at the National Defense Control Center of Russia.
Air targets approaching the state border over the neutral waters of the Black Sea have revealed Russian airspace controls. To identify them and prevent the violation of the Russian border, two Su-27 fighters from the duty forces of the joint Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District were lifted into the air.
The crews of the Russian fighter jets recognized the aircraft as a group of French Air Force aircraft. We are talking about a KC-135 tanker aircraft and two Mirage-2000 tactical aircraft.
The Russian pilots had accompanied them on the Black sea, to prevent violations of the state border of Russia.
