Prototypes of the self-propelled gun are now undergoing preliminary tests
MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. State tests of the latest self-propelled artillery gun "Magnolia", which can be operated in extreme conditions, including in the Arctic, will be completed in 2022. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Uralvagonzavod concern (UVZ, part of the Rostec State Corporation).
"The self-propelled artillery gun "Magnolia" based on the DT-30PM has been developed, its state tests are planned to be completed in 2022, " the concern informed.
As noted in the UVZ, the prototypes of the self-propelled gun are now undergoing preliminary tests.
The "Magnolia" CAO on the chassis of the DT-30PM armored two-link crawler conveyor was created at the Burevestnik Central Research Institute as part of the "Sketch"development work (R & D). In addition to this weapon, the family also includes an 82-mm self-propelled mortar "Drok" and a 120-mm CAO on a car chassis "Phlox".
In November 2019, the commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, said that the development of a whole line of samples of highly mobile artillery and mortar weapons on various types of chassis, including for operations in the Arctic region, is being completed within the framework of the ROC "Sketch".
