MOSCOW, February 6/ Radio Sputnik. Russia in the next two years does not plan to create a fifth-generation fighter-interceptor MiG-41, such information is reported by military expert Peter Butovsky in the American magazine Aviation Week & Space Technology.
A promising development in the future should replace the MiG-31. According to the military expert, the MiG-41 will require large investments, which are not currently provided for in the military budget. He also noted that this is evidenced not only by financial costs, but also by the latest trends in Russian avionics.
Butovsky suggested that some of the characteristics of the MiG-41 will be transferred to the Su-57 interceptor fighter. It will also be equipped with an ultra-long-range missile "Product 810".
In addition, Russian engineers can start working on extending the operation of existing MiGs instead of spending time on creating a new fighter-interceptor.
Earlier it was reported that Russia plans to replace the MiG-31 with a new aircraft after 2030. It is assumed that the MiG-41 will combine the advantages of the MiG-25 and MiG-31, to fight against low-orbit enemy spacecraft.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that Rostec told us what stage the project of the latest MiG-41 has reached.
