Washington is developing a common position with the "Eurotroika" (Germany, Great Britain, France) on the nuclear deal with Iran, and appropriate consultations are being held, said Assistant to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan.
"We are actively interacting with the European Union right now, especially with the three members of the five plus One format: Germany, Great Britain and France. We are talking to them at various levels, " he said.
"These consultations, I think, will lead to the formation of a united front in terms of our strategy towards Iran and in terms of nuclear diplomacy," Sullivan added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia is ready to cooperate with the new US administration to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian Nuclear Program (JCPOA).
The head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, said that the new US administration will not make contact with the Iranian authorities until Tehran takes steps to implement the JCPOA.
Moscow called on Tehran not to take steps that make it difficult to implement the nuclear deal. At the same time, the Russian diplomatic department stressed that the return of the United States to fulfilling its obligations under the JCPOA should not become a subject of bargaining or a reason for revising the deal, as well as imposing additional conditions on Iran or the other parties to the agreements.
Recall, on January 5, the official representative of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said that the level of uranium enrichment at the Iranian nuclear facility in Fordo reached 20% (weapons level). The United Kingdom, Germany and France have since called on Iran to immediately stop enriching uranium as a violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Iran's decision to enrich uranium to 20% is a departure from Tehran's obligations spelled out in the JCPOA, but this is a consequence of gross violations of the obligations of the deal by the United States. Earlier, the United States withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran, in response, Tehran reneged on a number of its obligations under the JCPOA.
