The launch of Soyuz-2.1 b with a military satellite took place from the Plesetsk cosmodrome
MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. A Russian military satellite launched on Tuesday on a Soyuz-2.1 b rocket from the Plesetsk cosmodrome has been included in the Main Catalog of Space Objects of the Russian Space Control System, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The specialists of the Space Control Center of the Space Forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces have entered into the Main Catalog of Space Objects of the Russian space control system information about a new space object - the spacecraft of the Russian Defense Ministry, launched by the Soyuz-2.1 b carrier rocket from the Plesetsk cosmodrome," the ministry said.
The Military Department reported that after the launch into orbit of the spacecraft launched on February 2 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome by the Soyuz-2.1 b medium-class launch vehicle, the officers of the Space Control Center began analyzing and processing coordinate and non-coordinate information about the new space object in order to accept it for ground support by the Main Center for Space Situation Intelligence of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces.
The main catalog of space objects of the SCCP is a single information database containing coordinate and non-coordinate information about each space object. The main catalog is intended for long-term storage of orbital measuring radar, optical, radio engineering and special information about artificial space objects at altitudes from 120 km to 50 thousand km.
The catalog contains information about 1,500 indicators of the characteristics of each space object, including a set of orbit elements sufficient to predict its movement with the necessary accuracy, an international identifier number, data on the time and place of launch, the type of object, purpose, mass, size, and other data.
Every day, to maintain the Main Catalog of Space Objects, the specialists of the Central Committee of the Space Forces of the VKS process more than 60 thousand measurements.
