According to the portal DefenseWorld, information about the cost of the transaction and the number of missiles that can be ordered is not yet available
MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS/. The Indian news portal DefenseWorld reported on Tuesday about the possibility of supplying India with the Russian group of companies "Kalashnikov" (part of the State Corporation "Rostec") anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM) 9M333 for the complexes of the "Strela-10" line.
With reference to sources, it is claimed that at the end of 2020, progress was made in the discussion of a possible agreement. A representative of Kalashnikov did not deny reports of a potential deal, but did not provide any information. Information about the cost of the deal and the number of missiles that can be ordered is also not yet available, DefenseWorld notes.
In December 2020, the Kalashnikov Group of companies announced the start of serial production of the SAM 9M333 in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The 9M333 missile is designed to destroy low-flying aircraft and helicopters in conditions of enemy optical interference, as well as UAVs and cruise missiles. The SAM is distinguished by a multifunctional homing head that operates in photo-contrast and infrared modes, as well as in the interference selection mode, which allows you to fire on the principle of "shot - forget". There are no data on direct analogues of the 9M333 rocket at the beginning of 2021. Compared to the developed missiles, the 9M333 has a more effective warhead weighing 5 kg and an increased probability of hitting targets. All modifications of the Strela-10 complex can be used without modernization. As of 2020, the Strela-10M family of anti-aircraft missile systems is one of the most common air defense systems in the world.
