MOSCOW, February 1 / Radio Sputnik. Disconnecting Russia from the global network is likely, but if such a scenario is implemented, the authorities have a plan of action ready, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media.
He also commented on earlier threats to disconnect Russia from the SWIFT system of international payments, recalling that the Internet is only an "adjective" to banking, but Russia is "constantly frightened"by this.
Taking into account such risks and the growing role of the Internet in providing the state with important social functions, the law on the autonomous management of the Russian segment of the Internet in case of emergencies was adopted.
Alexander Tokarenko, a member of the Association of Heads of Information Security Services, shared his opinion on the prospects of disconnecting Russia from the global Network in a conversation with Sputnik radio:
The International Interbank Financial Messaging System (SPFS) was formed in response to the possibility of a possible disconnection of Russian banks from SWIFT. Currently, about 11 thousand of the largest organizations in almost all countries of the world are connected to it.
At the end of 2019, Sputnik radio reported that the Ministry of Communications revealed the details of the exercises on the sustainable operation of the Runet.
