The 40th Guards Tank Division was stationed in the city of Sovetsk in the Kaliningrad Region until 1993. The division included the 75th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment. In 1993, the division was transformed into the 10th Guards Tank Brigade with the abolition of the regimental structure. In 1997, the brigade was disbanded.
The now revived motorized rifle regiment will be part of the new motorized rifle division of the 11th Army Corps, formed on December 1, 2020.
It is worth noting that the city of Sovetsk (until 1946 - the city of Tilsit) is located on the banks of the Neman River on the border with Lithuania, where the shortest land route to the border with the main part of Russia begins.
