MOSCOW, January 29 - RIA Novosti. The Russian Defense Ministry for the first time spoke about the characteristics of the strategic complex with the Yars-S intercontinental ballistic missile.
As follows from the video from the Single Day of acceptance of military equipment, published by the military department, the mobile ground missile system " Yars-S "is"designed to defeat all types of strategic targets with the ability to maneuver."
Among the tactical and technical characteristics of the complex are "caliber-1.86 meters, rocket length-17.8 meters, launch weight-46,000 kilograms, payload weight-1250 kilograms, range-up to 10,000 kilometers, fuel type - solid".
Previously, the characteristics of the complex were not officially reported.
During the last Single Day of acceptance of military equipment, the commander of the Barnaul Missile Division, Major General Alexander Prokopenkov, said that the division is on combat duty as part of three regiments with mobile-based missile systems "Yars-S" and that by the end of 2021, another regiment with "Yars-S"is expected to take up combat duty. Before Barnaul, "Yarsy-S" got on duty in Yoshkar-Ola.
"Yars" (RS-24)is a strategic missile system with a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile of mobile and stationary bases with a separable head. As reported, the Teykovskaya, Yoshkar-Ola, Nizhny Tagil, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk missile divisions were completely re-equipped with mobile-based Yars systems. The Barnaul and Bologovskaya divisions are being re - equipped with mobile-based complexes, and the Kozelskaya Division is being re-equipped with a stationary-based complex.
