In total, the British company intends to deploy about 600 satellites in low-Earth orbit
MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Roscosmos plans to carry out eight launches under the OneWeb program from the Baikonur, Vostochny and Kourou cosmodromes. This was reported to TASS by the Deputy Director General of Roscosmos for international Cooperation Sergey Savelyev.
"Three spacecraft launches are planned from the Baikonur and Vostochny cosmodromes as part of the OneWeb project," Savelyev said.
According to the Deputy Director General, two cluster launches are also planned from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana.
The first six satellites of the British company OneWeb went into orbit from the Kourou cosmodrome on a Soyuz-ST rocket on February 28, 2019. On February 7, 2020, 34 more satellites were launched into space from Baikonur, and on March 21, 34 more spacecraft were launched. For the first time, OneWeb satellites were launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in December 2020. 36 spacecraft were put into orbit. In total, the company intends to deploy about 600 satellites in low-Earth orbit.
OneWeb's updated agreement with Arianespace (the French company that acts as the operator) involves the launch of 16 Russian Soyuz rockets from the Kourou, Vostochny and Baikonur cosmodromes in 2020-2022. Each launch will allow you to put 34-36 spacecraft into orbit.
