NEW DELHI, January 21. /TASS/. The new Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet may take part in the Aero India 2021 airshow in Bangalore in early February. This was reported on Thursday by The Economic Times newspaper, citing sources among the organizers of the event.
This event may be the debut for the SU-57 in South Asia. As the newspaper points out, the fighter could replenish the aviation fleet of the Indian armed forces, as the parties were negotiating its production.
In addition to the Russian novelty, the American B-1 strategic bomber may be shown at the air show, which will be held on February 3-5. The rest of the demonstrated equipment will consist of samples already in service in India, such as the French Rafale fighter, the Russian Su-30MKI and the Indian Tejas, as well as several helicopters.
According to the publication, tickets for the audience of the air show have already been sold out.
The SU-57 is a fifth-generation multi-purpose fighter designed to destroy all types of enemy air, ground and surface targets while overcoming air defense systems.
Earlier on Thursday, the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Factory handed over to the Russian armed forces the first of the planned batch of Su-57 fighter jets, the regional government website reported. He entered one of the air regiments of the Southern Military District.
