OneWeb has raised $ 400 million from SoftBank and Hughes Network Systems: this will allow the company to continue deploying the satellite constellation.
The British operator OneWeb was able to receive 350 million investments from SoftBank and 50 million from Hughes Network Systems. The funding will help the company continue to deploy a constellation of 648 satellites.
The final of these spacecraft are planned to be launched before the end of 2022. To date, the company has put more than 100 spacecraft into orbit: the last batch was launched in December from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
OneWeb will have a tough competition with Elon Musk's Starlink. As part of this project, more than 900 satellites have already been put into orbit.
Recall that in March OneWeb has filed an application for bankruptcy. Among the reasons then called the failure of the agreement with the above-mentioned Japanese holding company Softbank, which involved large investments.
The main factor in the failure was the economic instability associated with the coronavirus pandemic. The company was able to find new investments last summer.
