The Russian equipment of the soldier of the future "Centurion "at the expense of special materials will receive a record low weight and will be adjusted to the figure of the fighter, while its protection will surpass all existing body armor, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the state corporation" Rostec".
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber, the corporation noted, is considered as the basis for the third-generation equipment "Sotnik", which is planned to be created to replace the "Warrior".
"Thanks to the new materials, the set of equipment "Centurion" will receive a record low weight and the ability to fit the anatomical features of the fighter. As a result, the protection will not restrict movement and will allow you to take the additional weight necessary to perform special missions. At the same time, the equipment will have increased security in comparison with existing types of body armor," the state corporation told RIA Novosti.
In the future, the "Centurion" will not only stop the fragment flying at a speed of up to 670 m / s, but also extinguish the shock pulse, which can cause serious damage to internal organs even without breaking through the protection. "We expect to get such an effect through the use of special depreciation funds," the corporation explained.
As the director of the Rostec armament complex, Bekhan Ozdoev, told RIA Novosti in November last year, the Sotnik will be lighter, more ergonomic, more reliable and more technologically advanced than the Ratnik. The equipment, B. Ozdoev noted, can get into its composition robotic complexes, as well as elements of artificial intelligence.
In addition, as the agency notes, the possibility of including an active titanium exoskeleton in the "Centurion", which will be equipped with mini-electric motors, is being considered. As the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov noted in December 2020, specialists of the state corporation are now working on power sources for the exoskeleton.
