A large U.S. military convoy was spotted entering northeastern Syria yesterday, marking the second time in five days that U.S. forces have moved reinforcements from Iraq to the neighboring Arab Republic, Al-Masdar News agency reported.
According to local sources, dozens of US military trucks and other military vehicles entered the Syrian province of Hasakeh through the Al-Walid checkpoint, which connects the SAR with the Iraqi province of Ninawa. The convoy of the US Armed Forces transported both personnel and cargo to one of its bases on Syrian territory.
The U.S. military used to ferry troops and supplies through the same border crossing over the weekend before heading to one of its bases in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, Al-Masdar News said.
It is noteworthy that the introduction of additional forces by the US military contingent in the region to the eastern regions of Syria occurred a few hours after the Israeli Air Force struck this part of the Arab republic with the most massive strikes in recent months.
A senior U.S. intelligence official with knowledge of the Israeli attack told the Associated Press (AP) that the airstrikes were carried out using intelligence provided by the United States and targeted "a number of warehouses in Syria that were used to store and prepare Iranian weapons," Eadaily notes.
