According to the head of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin, this will make the grouping more accurate
MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. Several GLONASS navigation satellites will be launched into orbit in 2021. This was announced by the Director General of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.
"Next year, we will launch several spacecraft into orbit, thereby starting the renewal of the grouping," Rogozin said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday, without specifying what specific generation of GLONASS satellites he was talking about.
According to the head of Roscosmos, this will make the grouping more accurate. "Now the resolution that the navigation grouping gives is more than 2.5 m accuracy, and there will be 1.3," he said.
Now the GLONASS orbital constellation includes 28 satellites, 23 of them are used for their intended purpose, two are at the stage of flight tests, one is in reserve, and two more are in maintenance (the full GLONASS orbital constellation includes 24 vehicles).
