The satellite weighing more than 3.5 tons was created by the European corporation Airbus Defense and Space. It will be placed in a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 480 km. CSO-2 is designed for a 10-year service life.
The customers of the satellite are the National Center for Space Research of France and the General Directorate of Armaments of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic. The corporation's website emphasizes that the device is " designed to monitor the Earth's surface in order to ensure safety."
