Moscow. December 29. INTERFAX-Holding "Russian Space Systems" (RKS) has improved the photographic equipment for Russian weather satellites, which will allow you to accurately determine the temperature of clouds and the Earth's surface, the press service of the holding said on Tuesday.
"In 2020, flight tests of the Electro-L spacecraft No. 3, equipped with modified survey equipment, confirmed the high efficiency of the new radiation cooling system for infrared photodetectors. The new solutions provided stable cooling of the photodetectors to temperatures of 80-82 K, which allows obtaining high-quality images, " the RCS said.
They noted that these developments are planned to be used in the manufacture of devices for the following satellites of the Electro-L and Arktika-M series.
"The Electro-L No. 3 spacecraft managed to achieve high radiometric characteristics of the 10th infrared channel, without which it is impossible to determine the Earth's temperature in the "transparency windows" - spectral regions where radiation passes through the atmosphere with relatively low attenuation, " said Yuri Gektin, chief designer of the RKS direction, as quoted by the press service of the holding.
According to him, this will allow us to correct the influence of the atmosphere and determine the temperature of clouds, the earth's surface and water areas with high accuracy.
"RKS specialists have also worked on the modernization of the shooting equipment of the next Canopus series of devices - an additional channel has been added, with the help of which the efficiency of decoding infrared images will be increased. Thanks to the additional spectral channel, visual perception and analysis of images will be simplified. At the same time, the efficiency of equipment for fire detection, as well as for the study of northern ice sheets and the detection of cracks in ice fields will increase, which is especially important when conducting ships along the northern Sea route. Advanced devices will be able to shoot at dusk and in the conditions of the polar night without loss of quality, " the holding said.
Space complex "Canopus-b" is designed to receive panchromatic and multispectral images of the Earth's surface in the interests of divisions of the state Corporation "Rosatom", EMERCOM of Russia, Ministry of natural resources, Russian Academy of Sciences, and other agencies and commercial customers with operational information.
