As reported on December 24, 2020, JSC "Concern "Kalashnikov "(part of the state Corporation rostec), it has completed testing and started mass production of the upgraded anti-aircraft guided missile 9M333, designed for anti-aircraft missile systems of the family "Strela-10M".

Full-scale tests of the missile at the Donguz test site in the Orenburg Region have been successfully completed. Serial production of the product has been started in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The Strela 9M333 missile defense system is designed to destroy low-flying aircraft and helicopters at any time of the year in the conditions of the use of dropped, parachuted and modulated organized optical interference, as well as remotely piloted aircraft and cruise missiles. The missile has three modes of operation of the homing head: photo-contrast, infrared and interference, which is its most important advantage over other missiles of this class. ZUR 9M333 allows you to fire on the principle of "shot-forgot".
From the bmpd side, we recall that, as stated earlier, the new 9m333 missile system was developed even in the 1980s to replace the old standard 9m37 series missiles as part of the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems of the military air defense system.
The decision to modernize the 9M333 missile system and resume its serial production was made by the Russian Ministry of Defense in 2018. The rocket, as well as the 9M37, is made according to the "duck" aerodynamic scheme. The 9M333 rocket is equipped with a high-efficiency engine and a transport and launch container, has a new homing head, autopilot and warhead. The new GOS has three modes of operation, in addition to infrared and photo contrast, there is an interference mode. Autopilot provides more stable operation of the GOS and the missile control loop. The new warhead has a mass of 5 kg (instead of 3 kg on the 9M37 SAM). Increased probability of hitting targets by increasing the explosive charge, length and cross-section of the striking elements. The length of the rocket has been increased to 2.23 m. Like the 9M37 missiles, the 9M333 missile can be used by all modifications of the Strela-10 complex.
