MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. The launch of the radar satellite "Obzor-R" from the Plesetsk cosmodrome is scheduled for the third quarter of 2021, according to the state contract published on the public procurement portal.
"The purpose of performing the R & d program [an integral part of the development work] is to ensure <...> the launch of the Obzor-R No. 1 SPACECRAFT using the Soyuz-2.1 a launch vehicle in the third quarter of 2021, "the document says.
Obzor-R is a radar satellite designed to shoot in the X-band at any time of the day (regardless of weather conditions). The device is created by the Russian rocket and space center "Progress" (Samara).
Data from the Obzor-R satellites will be used by the Ministry of emergency situations of Russia, the Ministry of agriculture and Rosreestr for mapping, monitoring natural and man-made emergencies, identifying potentially dangerous geological processes, objects and phenomena in construction areas, ensuring environmental management tasks, and searching for minerals.
On Board the satellite, a radar based on an active phased array antenna is installed, which will allow you to get an image with a resolution of up to one meter.
