In the future, the new engine can be used for advanced long-range and military transport aircraft
SAMARA, December 23. /TASS/. PJSC " UEC-Kuznetsov "(part of the United engine Corporation of the state Corporation "rostec") plans until 2022 to conduct research work on the development of a promising gas generator for the fifth-generation engine in the thrust class 18-24 TS. This was reported to journalists by the General designer of the company Pavel Chupin.
"The promising work that we are currently doing is working on a two-shaft gas generator for next-generation engines. This is a gas generator in the same thrust class as the gas generator for the NK-32 (engine for the Tu-160-approx. TASS). <...> The project for a promising gas generator is now designed until the end of 2022, " he said, explaining that in the future the new engine can be used for promising long-range and military transport aircraft.
The project is carried out by the design Bureau "UEC-Kuznetsov" and the partner of the enterprise-Samara University named after S. p. Korolev. R & d should be completed with a deep, in the scope of the technical project, design study, including the development of a three-dimensional geometric model, "digital twins" of the gas generator and its main components, Assembly units and parts for all major physical processes.
"The principal requirements are to improve fuel efficiency and reduce the weight of the gas generator and engines based on it. Our requirements are to improve at least 10-15% performance in relation to the gas generator of the NK-32 engine by weight and specific fuel consumption. This is a gas generator of the next generation engine, " Chupin said.
