The first regiment of Avangard hypersonic systems, which entered combat duty at the end of 2019 in the Orenburg region, will be brought to full strength (six mine launchers) at the end of 2021. This was reported on Wednesday by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The first regiment of the Yasnensky formation of the strategic Missile forces (RVSN) will have six silo launchers by the end of next year. Thus, it will be brought to the full-time staff, " the source said.
On Monday, at a meeting of the expanded Board of the military Department, Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the continuation of the rearmament of this regiment with complexes with hypersonic gliding cruise units "Avangard". Earlier, a TASS source reported that the next two UR-100N utth missiles with hypersonic combat equipment "Avangard" can take up combat duty in one of the regiments of the Yasnensky connection of the strategic missile forces approximately on December 25.
The Avangard combat unit is capable of flying in dense layers of the atmosphere at a hypersonic speed of up to Mach 28, maneuvering along the course and altitude and overcoming any missile defense. It was first reported by Russian President Vladimir Putin in March 2018.
