The Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation has published new data on the flight speed of the hypersonic unit of the Avangard missile system. According to the military, it accelerates to Mach 28 (the speed of sound is approximately equal to 7.5 kilometers per second).
According to the document entitled "the Main results of the activities of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation in 2012-2020", at different heights from the Ground, the speed indicator of the "Vanguard" will be different, since the air at the surface is denser than at altitude. RIA Novosti notes that at the earth's surface, one Mach is 340 meters per second.
