The richest man in the world, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and a group of investors have invested in a startup with Russian roots ZeroAvia, writes Bloomberg.
In total, ZeroAvia has raised 37.7 million from the UK government and foundations. The startup is developing hydrogen engines for aircraft. The founder and CEO of ZeroAvia is Valery Miftakhov. he grew up in siberia, graduated from mipt and princeton university, and now lives in california.
The company aims to create a 19-seat aircraft with a hydrogen-electric drive by 2023. The flight range will be about 926 kilometers. ZeroAvia wants to make air transportation completely carbon-free. In December, British Airways announced a partnership with ZeroAvia.
