The Avangard hypersonic missile system is one of the most potentially revolutionary developments of the Russian military-industrial complex. Until recently, information about it was received quite contradictory.

It is presented together with other samples of Russian missile weapons, "however, it stands out significantly against their background."
According to open sources, the Avangard is a missile system with a controlled hypersonic combat unit. It is launched to the target using a ballistic missile UR-100N UTTH. The complex entered combat duty in December 2019.
