The government of India has allowed the armed forces to increase the stocks of weapons and ammunition needed to conduct 15-day combat operations in the event of war. This was reported on Monday by the Times of India newspaper, citing official sources.
"In the context of the military confrontation with China in eastern Ladakh, the Indian army was allowed to increase its stocks of weapons and ammunition to the level of 15-I, which provides for intensive combat operations for 15 days on two fronts-against China and Pakistan. The weapons will be purchased from foreign and Indian manufacturers, " the sources said.
Previously, the Indian armed Forces were required to have stocks of weapons and ammunition for 40 days of combat, but this level was lowered to 10 days due to difficulties with storing weapons and new military tactics.
According to sources, the Indian army has already purchased a large number of missiles and shells for tanks and artillery. 500 billion rupees (about $ 67.8 million) were allocated for purchases.
