The Egyptian armed forces launched pre-emptive strikes on a group of terrorists near the border with Libya, destroying more than twenty units of wheeled vehicles with militants, weapons and ammunition, the Ministry of defense of the Arab Republic of Egypt (are) said in a statement, according to the English-language publication Egypt Independent.
A video posted by the Egyptian military Department on its Twitter page shows are air force planes striking in the border area. It is noted that the country's military used French-made multi-purpose Rafale fighters. In addition, reconnaissance planes were used to monitor the situation on the border and document the attack.
Rafale fighters can carry high-precision weapons, including laser-guided bombs weighing from 202 to 910 kilograms and with a range of up to 18 km, as well as ES-30L guided missiles with a range of up to 12 km.
A local weapons expert told the publication that the Egyptian Rafali was used in such an operation for the first time, replacing the American-made F-16 fighter jets, which are "often used in strikes on ground targets."
