Washington. November 30. INTERFAX-an Aircraft carrier strike group led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) entered the waters of the Persian Gulf after passing the Strait of Hormuz, the US Navy's 5th operational fleet said.
The us carrier strike group has been on combat duty in the Persian Gulf since July this year. In early November, she sailed to the Indian ocean to participate in joint Malabar naval exercises with the navies of India, Japan and Australia, which took place from 17 to 20 November near the Indian coast.
The return of the us aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf follows the murder last Friday of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who led the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
