According to UEC-Saturn, the company has an export portfolio of orders for the production of several hundred aircraft engines in the next three to four years
RYBINSK, November 30. /TASS/. The first tests of the gas generator demonstrator for the new PD-8 mid-range engine are scheduled for March 2021. This was reported to TASS by the managing Director of UEC-Saturn (part Of the United engine Corporation of the rostec state Corporation") Viktor Polyakov.
"We carry out development work on a promising engine, but we do it in cooperation with UEC enterprises. We plan to assemble the gas generator demonstrator and conduct the first tests in March 2021, " he said.
Earlier, the first Deputy head of the rostec state Corporation, Vladimir Artyakov, in an interview with TASS, reported that the promising Russian PD-8 engine for the SSJ 100 and be-200 amphibious aircraft will receive a type certificate in 2023. According to him, the engine base can also be used for helicopters.
Testing of blades for PD-35
The first prototypes of composite blades for the promising PD-35 engine, which is supposed to be installed on wide-body aircraft, were made at UEC-Saturn, and tests of the blades are planned for the spring of next year, Polyakov said.
"To date, we have passed the stage of research and development, we are moving to the stage of development work. Prototypes of the blades have already been made. We are not talking about the series yet, because we need to conduct a set of tests, which are scheduled to start in the spring of 2021, " he said.
As the managing Director of UEC-Saturn explained, now the company's specialists are trying to reduce the production time of composite blades and improve their characteristics.
The development of composite blades for the PD-35 engine is carried out in parallel in two technological directions: specialists of the Rybinsk enterprise use 3D weaving (the blade is made on a specialized loom using threads from composite materials), specialists of UEC-Perm motors use directional layout.
"The first blades produced in Perm were put on a sample of the engine, they were made in the PD-14 dimension, for testing technologies. The first results are encouraging, " Polyakov said.
Aircraft engines for export
UEC-Saturn has an export portfolio of orders for the production of several hundred aircraft engines in the next three to four years, Polyakov said.
"The contract for the next delivery of several hundred engines is currently being finalized. This is a contract for the next 3-4 years, " he said.
The managing Director noted that the export portfolio of UEC-Saturn is approximately 35%. The main share of exports is made up of engines for Il-76 aircraft of foreign customers.
