Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that it will spend two-thirds of the military budget

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russian troops will receive more than 3,4 thousand units of new and 1,3 thousand repaired equipment in 2021, two-thirds of the military budget will be spent on it, defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Friday.

"To achieve these indicators, two-thirds of the funds will be spent on the purchase of weapons next year. It is planned to deliver more than 3,400 units and repair 1,300 units of basic military equipment, " he said at a meeting of the Board of the military Department.

The Minister noted that the preparation of tender documentation and draft state contracts with the only suppliers or performers for the state defense order of 2021 is already underway. In addition, state contracts are concluded, which will come into force after the approval of the relevant government decree. According to him, the implementation of the state defense order next year "will ensure a balanced equipping of the armed forces with modern equipment." "The equipment of permanent readiness units with the latest models by the beginning of 2022 will be more than 71%, and the security of the armed forces with military equipment will exceed 98%," Shoigu stressed.

Earlier, the defense Minister demanded to increase the share of modern weapons in the Russian army to 70% by the end of this year.

Airborne forces

Shoigu said that the new type of airborne troops are much more mobile, and their fire capabilities have increased by 20%. "At the same time, the mobility of the connection has increased six times, and the fire capabilities have increased by 20%," he said.

The Minister noted that as part of the experiment on the formation of a new type of airborne formations, "new ways of performing combat tasks by amphibious assault units and helicopter units during maneuvering, network and focal military operations"were investigated.

The results of the experiment, according to the Minister, showed not only the feasibility of developing a new type of airborne units, but also "the need to further improve the theory and practice of using Airborne troops as the basis of the mobile component of the armed forces."

Maintaining the pace of deliveries

The Ministry of defense, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia have come up with ways to maintain the pace of deliveries of military equipment, avoid the negative impact of coronavirus on the Russian military-industrial complex and eliminate unplanned budget expenditures in 2021-2023. "To achieve the required level of equipping the troops, the Ministry of defense, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of industry and trade, developed schemes for financing state contracts by attracting targeted loans and paying them back in 2024-2027," Shoigu said, speaking about the draft state defense order for 2021 and for the planning period of 2022 and 2023.

"This will allow us to maintain the planned volume of deliveries of weapons, military and special equipment, to ensure the loading of enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection, to exclude the growth of the cost of state contracts and the occurrence of unplanned additional expenses of the Federal budget," the Minister added.

He noted that next year the defense Ministry will continue to increase the supply of modern weapons, as well as the volume of repairs and modernization of military equipment.

About military wives

According to Shoigu, the defense Ministry has employed almost all the wives of military personnel who need work over the past three years. "Over the past three years, the number of wives of military personnel in need of employment has decreased by 94 times, now this figure is 88 people," he said.

In addition, the number of military children who need places in preschool institutions has decreased from 7 thousand to 257, the Minister said.

"Thus, today, in most regions of the Russian Federation, the issues of employment of family members of military personnel and the placement of their children in kindergartens have been generally resolved. Nevertheless, it is important to continue this work so that the defenders of the Fatherland are calm for the well - being of their families," the Minister concluded.
