TSAMTO, November 24. Defense Ministry of India announced an integrated landfill in Chandipur off the coast of Odishi test launches developed by the defence research and development (DRDO) of India MO advanced reactive munition for the MLRS of "Pinaki".
As stated, the development of an improved munition for the Pinaka system was initiated in order to provide a longer launch range compared to the basic design, which is characterized by a reduced length. The design and development was carried out by the DRDO laboratories located in Pune – the ARDE (Armament Research and Development Establishment) and the HEMRL (High Energy Materials Research Laboratory).
A total of six rounds of ammunition were fired in rapid succession. As stated, the test goals are fully achieved. The RS used in the tests were produced by Economic Explosives Limited (Nagpur), to which the necessary technologies were transferred. All parameters of the projectile flight were recorded using telemetry equipment, radar and electronic-optical tracking systems, which confirmed the flight characteristics of the munition.
The improved version of the RS will replace the 214-mm Pinaka Mk-I projectiles, which have a range of 38 km to 48 km. The report did not disclose additional information about the size or range of the launch of the new RS.
