TSAMTO, November 12. More than 80 units. BUK-M3 SAMS entered service in the anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Central military district, stationed in the Altai territory.
The latest weapons arrived at the point of permanent deployment as part of the military echelon after performing live firing at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region.
After completing all the necessary maintenance work for anti-aircraft missile systems, the crews will take up combat duty to protect the airspace in the area of responsibility.
The Buk-M3 air defense system can intercept almost all cruise missiles and aerodynamic targets. There are 12 missiles on the launcher, and six on the self – propelled fire launcher. The distinctive features of the new SAMS in comparison with previous versions are an increase in the load capacity of the chassis for a larger number of missiles, an improved control system and protection of the crew from detonation, the press service of the Central military district reports.
