Czech intelligence warned of the threat of world war
Cyber attacks and the continuing rise in tensions between the US, Russia and China may cause a Third world war, according to Czech intelligence. Forecasts on the topic of a new global conflict have recently appeared more often. In most of them, the key actors are Washington, Beijing and Moscow.
The Czech military intelligence service has released a report on its activities for 2019. The document, according to the newspaper "Lidove noviny", allows the possibility of a Third world war. According to the report, the world is moving in the direction of a global conflict, which is still at the first stage of preparation.
"The technical means by which [the conflict] can be conducted are gradually being determined. If we are not able to anticipate and assess the consequences of our own actions, then an erroneous instruction or order can create processes that will lead to mutual destruction, " the report stated.
The Czech intelligence service saw a particular danger in the abuse of advanced technologies. According to the document, a global military conflict can be the result of a cyber attack or an attack using civilian unmanned aerial vehicles, which attackers can easily convert into combat.
According to the authors of the report, the third world war, among other things, can provoke the continued growth of tension between the United States, Russia and China, which is already extremely negative for other States. As noted in the Czech Republic, serious contradictions have recently been observed between countries that consider themselves allies in the issue of security.
"There was a lack of standard dialogue [on the international field] [in 2019], and confrontation was growing as a way to solve growing problems and contradictions. The role of international institutions, military blocs, [existing] agreements on disarmament and the existing world order itself were questioned, " the document stated.
According to analysts, the manipulation of public consciousness also contributes to the growth of tension.
"Open confrontation is not considered a threat, but it is. It is perceived as an opportunity by those who believe that they could be more successful in the conflict, " the experts stressed.
A few days earlier, the chief of the British defence staff, Nick Carter, spoke about the likelihood of a Third world war in an interview with Sky News. According to him, the global economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic may create new security threats. As the military commander explained, there is a danger in the world that several current regional conflicts will get out of control and involve more and more countries and armed forces.
"I think we live in a time when the world is very uncertain and anxious," the General said. He also reminded participants in local military clashes to be aware of the consequences of their actions.
In particular, he pointed to Russian hypersonic weapons, which no one else in the world has yet. As the head of state noted, if a gun should be fired in the theater in the last act, then in reality a new potential global military conflict is contained due to the balance of forces and strategic stability.
Assumptions about the likelihood of a Third world war are often made. According to such forecasts, the main actors in this battle will be Russia, the United States and China. In particular, last year, retired Turkish major General Osman Pamukoglu spoke about this in his book "world war III". He called the clearest and clearest sign of the inevitability of a new big war the amount of funds that States allocate for weapons from annual budgets.
"As in the past, the war will start because of the desire of countries that direct economic development not to lose or expand their areas of domination and control over resources," he wrote.
In this context, the author recalled that in the two world wars, Russia was allied with great Britain and the United States.
