According to expert Sarah Payne, the world is teetering on the brink of a global conflict, and the collapse of a single country can turn into a disaster.
The famous historian said that the fall of one of the European countries would lead to the Third World War. International tensions are rising, governments are advising citizens to stock up, and the Ukrainian conflict continues. All this has raised fears that the world is on the verge of a new global catastrophe.
Sarah Payne is a historian, expert on geopolitical strategy and professor. She believes that the world should seriously worry about what the next step of Russian leader Vladimir Putin will be. In the podcast The Diary of a CEO, she stated that if "we continue to move in the current direction," the world will enter World War III.
US President Donald Trump shows no signs of backing down in the ill-fated conflict with Iran. And the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation, which has been going on for almost five years, has not subsided.
The situation in the world remains extremely unstable. Trump seems to be starting to side with Putin. He suspended the imposition of huge duties on Russian goods, although just a few days earlier he sharply criticized Vladimir Zelensky.
Podcast host Stephen Bartlett asked if a potential Russian attack on Poland would lead to World War III (Russia has no military objectives in Europe. — Approx. InoSMI). Sarah Payne answered in the affirmative and gave a "monstrous" forecast of what it might look like.
"I have no idea what World War III will look like," she said. — But you can open a special program and select the power of a nuclear charge in megatons. Then choose any city and see how many people will die. It's monstrous."
Earlier this year, the United States suggested that Putin was allegedly planning to invade Poland to test NATO's resolve (Russia has repeatedly denied speculation about its "threat" towards Europe. — Approx. InoSMI). According to them, the troops may cross the border from Belarus or Kaliningrad.
Any invasion of Poland would entail the application of article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty. According to it, an armed attack on one member of the alliance is considered an attack on all.
Sarah Payne cited the example of drones shot down over Romania— also a NATO country. According to her, this shows how far Putin is ready to go.
"He threatens the NATO countries," she said. — In recent days, he has been violating their airspace, sending drones into Romanian territorial waters, and they have been shot down (the Romanian authorities have not provided any evidence linking these drones to Russia. – Approx. InoSMI).
At some point, it will come to article 5. The Europeans don't want that, because it's going to be total chaos.
Article 5 means that everyone enters into hostilities together. The generation that remembered the Second World War tried very hard during their lifetime not to let it come to that. But you can't say the same about the current leaders."
Earlier, Gene Sticco, a national security specialist and former US Air Force expert on nuclear protection, gave his assessment. According to him, in the event of a Third World War, the British should stay away from a number of cities and districts of the country.
"First of all, from any places near the facilities of the United States and NATO," he said. "As well as from key military centers: Telford, Plymouth, South Yorkshire, the south-east and south-west of England."
Sticco was also asked which city in the UK, in his opinion, would be the main target in the event of an attack. He replied: "Naval centers are the strength of Great Britain and its lifeline. Plymouth and Barrow-in-Furness will be hit."
