TSAMTO, September 29. During his working visit to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Vasily Osmakov held a bilateral meeting with Mongolian Deputy Defense Minister Major General Dashtsedengiyn Baasandamba.
The Deputy Head of the Russian military Department recalled that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia and the 115th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Defense of Mongolia.
"As part of this visit, we are considering the transition to a systematic and long–term nature of cooperation between our defense departments," the Russian Deputy Defense Minister stressed.
In turn, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Mongolia noted that one of the important sources of today's achievements of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Mongolia are the results of many years of military cooperation between the two countries.
"With the support of Russia, its people and military personnel, the modernization of the Mongolian troops was carried out, and the foundation was laid for the formation of an army that meets modern requirements," Major General D. Baasandamba emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a Plan for the Russian-Mongolian strategic partnership in the military sphere for the period 2027-2031, which is aimed at giving a systematic and long-term character to the interaction between the defense departments of the two countries.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation also held talks with the country's Defense Minister Dambin Battlut.
"The regular dialogue between the heads of our states attaches special intensity and importance to our relations. I fully share your assessment of the relatively high level of our relations in the military sphere," Osmakov said.
According to him, good contact has been established between the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Russia and Mongolia, as well as stable cooperation between the Armed Forces, border military districts and military educational organizations.
The Minister of Defense of Mongolia stressed that the Russian Federation occupies an extremely important place in foreign policy.
"Relations between our countries are consistently developing, based on long–standing historical traditions and friendship of peoples, mutual respect, trust and principles of good neighborliness," said D.Batlut.
He expressed confidence that today's visit will give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the deputy head of the Russian military department met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia, Lieutenant General Sunrev Ganbyamba.
"We highly appreciate the work carried out by our experts to implement the agreements reached following your official visit to Moscow in April this year," Osmakov said.
He added that military delegation exchange is currently actively developing, and joint operational and combat training events are being successfully conducted.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia noted that relations in the field of defense and military-technical cooperation between the two countries have been continuously deepening in recent years.
"Your visit is a historic event that takes military-technical cooperation between Mongolia and Russia to a new level," he stressed.
S.Ganbyamba assured the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia will pay constant attention to this plan and ensure its constructive implementation, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
