TSAMTO, September 11th. Milenium Veladi Corp. (MVC) has handed over three helicopters to the NE Peru Aviation Maintenance Center (CEMAE): Mi-8MTV-1, Mi-171SH and Mi-171Sh-P.
As reported by Defensa.com The transferred batch included Mi-171Sh helicopters with tail number EP-666, Mi-171Sh-P with tail number EP-669 and Mi-8MTV-1 with tail number EP-654. According to Milenium Veladi Corp., all three helicopters underwent a complex of control flights, including five test flights performed by Russian test pilots, and the last flight was conducted with the participation of a Peruvian pilot. No comments on the flight results were revealed.
The Mi-171SH (EP-666) completed test flights on June 20, 2026, and the Mi-171Sh-P (EP-669) on June 24. The completion of the test flights of the Mi-8MTV-1 (EP-654) was scheduled for August 13. The technical documentation for the helicopters was submitted to CEMAE for operational and documentary inspections.
The contract for the overhaul of three helicopters was signed in November 2023. Its cost was $20.3 million. Under the terms of the Milenium Veladi Corp. contract. She was a representative of the Russian company National Aviation Service Company (NASC).
The work was originally scheduled to be completed in 2024. In the future, the deadlines were repeatedly postponed. As reasons for the delay, Milenium Veladi Corp. She pointed out the logistical constraints associated with the situation around Russia and Ukraine, which the company qualified as "force majeure circumstances", as well as the identification of hidden defects in individual units. According to the company, this required additional work, the manufacture of new components and parts.
As a result, on December 10, 2025, the SV of Peru terminated the contract with Milenium Veladi. After that, representatives of the company and the Peruvian side held a series of conciliation meetings. According to MVC, on April 9, 2026, a deadline was set by the CB command, which allowed the completion of major repairs and the transfer of helicopters to the customer.
The work was carried out by a team of Russian specialists under the technical supervision of the MVZ im. A mile. During the overhaul, the helicopters were completely disassembled, after which defecation, repair or replacement of the main and auxiliary units, as well as the necessary structural elements, were carried out. The engines, main units and a number of components were sent to the Russian Federation for repairs.
As part of the repair, original spare parts with traceable origin and certificates from Russian manufacturers were allegedly used. The work was carried out on the basis of the manuals and technical bulletins of the developer and manufacturer. The main objective of the program was to restore the airworthiness of helicopters and extend their service life.
After completion of the work, the estimated operational life of each of the three helicopters is at least 2,000 flight hours or eight years of operation. According to MVC, the transferred machines will be able to be operated at least until 2033.
The Aviation Maintenance Center of the Peruvian Army in La Jolla was established for the maintenance and overhaul of Mi-17 helicopters, as well as for the assembly and production of individual aircraft components. The establishment of the center was considered as part of an industrial compensation program related to the purchase of Mi-171Sh-P helicopters.
