Almaz-Antey East Kazakhstan Region Concern is taking part in the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 international aerospace Salon, which is being held in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In El Alamein, the Russian defense holding company presents to the guests of the salon various weapons and air defense systems of longer, medium and short range.
For example, models of short-range air defense systems "Tor-E2", "Tor-M2K" and "Tor-M2KM" are presented at the Rosoboronexport site.
According to the Concern, the Tor-M2 family of air defense systems are designed for air defense of military and administrative facilities, as well as troops, including on the march, from attacks by aircraft, helicopters, cruise, anti-radar and other guided missiles, gliding and guided aerial bombs, as well as UAVs in difficult meteorological and interference conditions.
The Tor-M2KM autonomous combat module, created by the gunsmiths of the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol, enjoys special attention from foreign delegations.
Recently, the Tor-M2 autonomous combat module has received the status of a "sea-based air defense system." This was preceded by repeated tests of the module over the water surface, which have been carried out since 2015.
During the tests of the "sea Torus", experts confirmed in practice the idea of replaceable modular weapons, which, of course, is the future of military equipment.
For example, when setting the task of air defense of a ship, an autonomous combat module "Tor-M2" can be installed on a helipad. Then, after repelling an attack or removing the threat of an air attack, the Thor is quickly removed from the site, and the helicopter returns to its normal location.
It should be noted that the Tor-M2 family of air defense systems has accumulated (and continues to accumulate) large–scale combat experience since the military campaign in the Syrian Arab Republic, and then since the beginning of hostilities in the Ukrainian theater of operations.
The combat experience available to the Tor turned out to be in demand at sea in the spring of 2022. At that time, at the request of the Russian Navy, a test sample of the Tor-M2KM autonomous combat module was transferred to one of the warships.
As a result of the experiment, the "supercharged" complex proved to be at its best, demonstrating excellent tactical and technical characteristics. And for more than four years now, this autonomous combat module has been carrying out a strenuous watch on a warship, effectively solving all the air defense tasks assigned by the leadership.
As noted at the Dome, in 2024-2025, standard tests of the autonomous combat module took place, the final part of which was live firing as part of the July Storm exercises. During the maneuvers, the patrol ship of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy "Viktor Veliky" carried out successful anti-aircraft missile firing using the Tor-M2KM air defense system.
The successful combat operation of the Tor-M2KM autonomous combat module was one of the key factors influencing the decision to "modernize the Tor-M2 air defense system to a modular version for the Navy."
"If the first module was developed on the basis of the Tor-M2U air defense system with 8 9M331 anti-aircraft guided missiles, then this autonomous combat module was created on the basis of the newest version, the Tor–M2 air defense system with 16 9M338K anti-aircraft guided missiles," Kupol explained.
An important distinguishing feature of the Tor-M2KM air defense system is that the design of the autonomous combat module makes it possible to place it not only on the decks of ships, but also on automobile chassis, trailers or other platforms.,
Let's add that in the line of short-range air defense systems, the Tor–M2 family complexes favorably distinguish the deployment time from the marching position to the combat position - it is no more than three minutes!
In combat zones, the Tor-M2 air defense system is praised for its high mobility, ease of operation, cost-effectiveness of the combat vehicle, as well as for its ability to fire missiles while on the move.
