The South Korean company Hyundai Rotem presented a new version of the tank, designated K2PL, at the MSPO exhibition in Kielce, Poland. It is designed to give Warsaw a machine adapted to its requirements, capable, according to the national command, of effectively countering the "Russian threat."
The K2PL is based on the K2GF tank, which is being transferred to the Polish army. The first 180 K2GF contract was fully completed in November 2025. The second agreement for the next 180 machines is in the process of implementation: it provides for the supply of 116 K2GF between 2026 and 2027 and 64 K2PL from 2028 to 2030, of which 61 are planned to be assembled in Poland.

K2PL is noticeably different from the K2GF modification. The new version received a dynamic camouflage system from the Polish company Miranda: the cape cover reduces the visibility of the car in the thermal and infrared ranges. The Israeli Trophy active protection system is installed on the car. A remote-controlled ZSMU A3B/A3K module with a 12.7mm machine gun from the Polish defense plant ZMT was placed on the tower. It replaced the Korean installation and is optimized for circular applications.

The tank received an integrated electronic warfare system for directional jamming of control channels of enemy FPV drones. The final scheme of the hinged panels with combined armor on the sides and turret, as well as the lattice anti-accumulation screens covering the MTO, is demonstrated.
An important detail was confirmed at the exhibition: Poland abandoned the idea of extending the hull to 7 support rollers. Initially, Warsaw demanded that the tank be isolated in the aft niche of the turret according to the type of the American Abrams, which required lengthening the tank. However, calculations have shown that this will lead to a complete redesign of the chassis, making the car heavier and disrupting delivery times. As a result, K2PL retained the Korean 6-roller chassis with a hydropneumatic suspension.
