In Vladivostok, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev inspected the IL-114-300 aircraft, which will form the basis of the fleet of the Far East on local and regional air lines. The inspection was attended by Gennady Abramenkov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, who oversees the development of the aviation industry, Alexey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Kozhemyako, Governor of Primorsky Krai, as well as the heads of Aurora, Taiga and Kamchatka Aviation Enterprises airlines.
"It's good that we have a new aircraft. The aircraft is quite acceptable in terms of comfort. As for safety, it is determined within the framework of a series of certification flights, and not as a result of our trial. This issue should be dealt with separately. Now these works are mostly completed. And this aircraft is not enough for us for the Far East. We discussed this with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The aircraft is designed for 66 seats. There are different settlements in the Far East. There are many localities where we won't pick up 66 passengers. We also need a board that can accommodate 9-10 people, and will allow us to connect small towns with each other and with regional capitals," said Yuri Trutnev.
Gennady Abramenkov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of Il JSC, and Mikhail Alekseev, Chief Designer of IL-114, reported on the progress of additional certification tests aimed at expanding the operational map of the aircraft, as well as on its key advantages.
The aircraft performed a demonstration flight lasting about an hour along the air routes near the Vladivostok International Airport named after V.K. Arsenyev.
The IL-114-300 arrived in Vladivostok the day before from Zhukovsky near Moscow, having traveled over 6 thousand kilometers with an intermediate landing in Krasnoyarsk.
Currently, sources of preferential financing for the supply of the first batch for the Far East have been identified. Firm contracts are expected to be signed in the near future. In particular, Aurora Airline plans to replenish its fleet with regional IL-114-300 aircraft. The first planes to the Far East will begin arriving in 2028.
"The Russian market needs a modern regional aircraft, and the IL-114-300 should meet this need. Today, this is no longer a matter of perspective – airlines are forming a specific demand for such machines, primarily for the Far East and other territories with long routes and difficult operating conditions. We see the task as providing carriers with the necessary volume of aircraft and preventing a gap between market demand and production capabilities," said Gennady Abramenkov, Deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
"The Il plane-114-300 – A fully domestic, certified turboprop regional passenger aircraft designed for use in regions with weak airfield infrastructure and in difficult climatic conditions – the remote regions of the Arctic, the Far East and Siberia. We plan to deliver the first aircraft to the Far East in 2028," said Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of Il JSC.
According to Konstantin Sukhorebrik, CEO of Aurora Airlines JSC, "the airline's specialists continue to work with Il JSC and UAC PJSC to create the optimal appearance of aircraft for regular passenger traffic on regional and local routes in the Far Eastern Federal District. On these routes, the Far East needs modern and reliable domestic aircraft."
Oleg Kozhemyako, the Governor of Primorye, gave his assessment of the results of the demonstration flight: "A regional aircraft that is convenient for inter-regional flights. This is a good aircraft for flying in our immediate territories."
Il aircraft-114-300 – A fully domestic, certified turboprop regional passenger aircraft with a capacity of up to 66 seats, designed specifically for local airlines, including for use in regions with weak airfield infrastructure and in difficult climatic conditions – the hard-to-reach regions of the Arctic, the Far East and Siberia.
The IL-114-300 will replace the retiring fleet of aircraft such as the AN-24/26 and foreign-made aircraft currently operated by airlines.
Il-114-300 – a universal platform that makes it possible to create aircraft of various modifications on its basis: transport, cargo, passenger, sanitary, and special purpose.
The creation of the IL-114-300 has become one of the examples of Russia's technological sovereignty. A large cooperation is working on this project, mainly from enterprises belonging to the Rostec State Corporation. The aircraft is made from exclusively Russian-made components: two domestic TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines with a capacity of 3100 hp, with new AV112-114 six-bladed propellers, a modern passenger cabin interior designed from the latest Russian materials, and a digital flight navigation system that is not inferior to the avionics used on mainline aircraft. It is the only aircraft in its class equipped with three laser inertial systems that ensure safe operation in the absence of satellite signals and limited radio navigation infrastructure.
The production of the IL-114-300 aircraft involves the cooperation of the enterprises of PJSC UAC: the branch of JSC Il – Aviastar, the branch of JSC Il - VASO and NAZ Sokol. The final assembly is carried out at the branch of PJSC "UAC" – Lukhovitsky Aviation Plant named after P. A. Voronin.
The flight test program of the IL-114-300 took place in several stages. The first flight of the aircraft took place on March 31, 2024, exactly one year later, on March 31, 2025, the second prototype aircraft joined the tests. In June 2026, the IL-114-300 received a type certificate.
As part of the expansion of the expected operating conditions, in February 2026, tests were conducted in Yakutsk at extremely low temperatures, in March in Arkhangelsk, the IL-114-300 was tested under natural icing conditions, in May, tests were successfully completed in the Arctic for basing and operation at high geographical latitudes, in August, tests were conducted under conditions of high temperatures in Bukhara. The materials obtained during the tests are transferred for examination to the Russian Aviation Registry.
Tests are currently being conducted in conditions of thunderstorm activity and evaluation of the aircraft's performance at unpaved airfields.
