TSAMTO, August 25. The Argentine authorities have officially accepted the US offer to supply up to 235 Stryker armored vehicles with an 8x8 wheelbase to equip the country's Ground Forces.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Argentina, the signing ceremony of the corresponding letter of proposal and acceptance of the proposal (LOA) took place on August 21 in Buenos Aires.
The event was attended by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti, the Chief of the General Staff of the Argentine Army, Lieutenant General Oscar Santiago Zarich, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Army for Export and Defense Cooperation, Patrick Mason, and other officials.
As stated, the purchase reflects the close relationship between Argentina and the United States, strengthened by the strategic alliance initiated by Argentine President X.Dear.
The delivery will be carried out under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Surplus Military Assets (EDA) programs.
Signing the letter is supposed to open the process of step-by-step transfer of cars. The first batch of 50 units. It has already been examined by Argentine specialists at Fort Hood.Texas). The agreement will also include spare parts, training and maintenance. Using the mechanisms of the EDA program will make it possible to include excess military equipment in the supply package. The total cost of the package is still unknown.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Argentina, the project will deliver Stryker armored vehicles in the configurations of the M1256 infantry fighting vehicle, M1133A1 medical evacuation vehicle, M1255A1 command vehicle, and M1131A1 fire support vehicle. The equipment will be supplied in a version with a double V-shaped body (DVH) to enhance protection against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
As reported by CAMTO, an intergovernmental agreement (LOA) providing for the purchase by Argentina of the first 8 M1126 Stryker armored combat vehicles with an 8x8 wheelbase worth about $ 9 million was signed in Washington in July 2025. The FMS delivery package also included related equipment, spare parts for one year of operation, training and maintenance services. The contract contained options providing for the possibility of supplying additional armored personnel carriers.
The first 4 armored vehicles were adopted by the Argentine Armed Forces on December 3, 2025. The second batch was delivered in February 2026. The infantry fighting vehicles became part of the 6th Motorized Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mechanized Brigade (Br Mec X).
The delivered armored vehicles are made in the version of the M1126 armored personnel carrier, designed to carry up to 9 military personnel. The delivery of the first batch allowed us to evaluate the equipment that has already been involved in several exercises.
As previously stated, the ultimate goal of the agreement is the purchase of more than 200 armored vehicles of various modifications to equip the Argentine Armed Forces brigade, which is an element of the rapid reaction force, as well as the ground component of the United Peacekeeping Forces "Cruz del Sur", which also includes units of the Armed Forces of Chile.
