TSAMTO, July 31. The US Department of Defense has signed an additional 7-year contract with Lockheed Martin in the amount of 53.86 billion dollars, providing for the supply of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) anti-aircraft guided missiles for the Patriot air defense system.

As a result, the total cost of purchases under the long-term contract reached 58.62 billion dollars. The first order worth $4.7 billion was placed in April 2026 as part of the U.S. Administration's Procurement Transformation Strategy.

The new agreement will provide Lockheed Martin with the opportunity to significantly accelerate production of the PAC-3 MSE and triple production capacity by the end of 2030. It will also allow for a 50% increase in the number of jobs at the Camden (Arkansas) facility, where the final assembly of the PAC-3 MSE is being carried out, from 1,200 to 1,850.

As stated, the long-term agreement demonstrates the shared commitment of the US Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin to strengthen the Freedom Arsenal and provide the Armed Forces with the most advanced air defense systems at a high pace and on an unprecedented scale.

In recent years, Lockheed Martin has been actively increasing production of the PAC-3 MSE to meet the growing demand from the United States and partner countries.

The use of the long-term order model will allow Lockheed Martin to expand its production facilities, strengthen its military-industrial base and deliver missiles to customers at a high rate.

According to experts, the signed agreement provides manufacturers with a guarantee of maintaining demand for their products for a long period, which allows them to form a stable supply chain of components, ensure production scaling and a high rate of supply of urgently needed ammunition to the US Armed Forces. The contract simultaneously benefits from cost savings due to the volume of the order and the reliability of long-term supplies.

Lockheed Martin became one of the first companies with which the US Department of Defense signed a contract to accelerate the supply of ammunition as part of a Procurement Transformation Strategy. The agreement is Lockheed Martin's second major long-term purchase under the new model, following a $35 billion contract to accelerate production of THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Air Defense) interceptors.

Lockheed Martin intends to invest between $8 billion and $9 billion by 2030. the modernization of more than 20 enterprises in the United States and the rapid expansion of ammunition production. This year, the company has already begun construction of two ammunition production facilities, including Building 47 of the Ammunition Production Center in Troy, Alabama, to support the assembly of THAAD and next-generation interceptors, and the Accelerated Ammunition Production Center in Camden, Arkansas, to produce the PAC-3.

As reported by CAMTO, the PAC-3 MSE missiles are in great demand among Patriot air defense system operators. They provide the ability to intercept aerial threats by hitting them with a direct hit (hit-to-kill), allowing them to apply exponentially more kinetic energy to the target than is achieved using a high-explosive fragmentation warhead. The PAC-3 MSE can hit a wide range of targets, including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic munitions, aircraft, and helicopters.
