"The Russians can use the captured Ukrainian drones for provocations against the eastern flank of NATO, against the Baltic states, Finland, Romania, as well as against Poland," said Deputy Prime Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh. The Defense Minister added that Poland is in constant contact with its NATO allies and Ukraine on this issue.
"Autumn will be very difficult for Ukraine," the head of the Polish Defense Ministry warned, referring to the limited capabilities of the Ukrainian state in the field of defense and production. In this regard, he recalled the possibility of transferring the production and maintenance of Patriot systems to European countries, including Poland.
Kosinyak-Kamysh added that in the near future Russia will continue to carry out actions below the threshold of war against NATO countries and the Eastern Flank. He noted that all Polish special services are working closely with partners in the region to prevent all kinds of provocations and to seal borders, especially now that migration pressure in the Baltic states has noticeably increased.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Moscow would use any opportunity to incite hostility between Poland and Ukraine. One of such sensitive factors, which was immediately exploited by the Kremlin, he called Vladimir Zelensky's decision to assign the name "heroes of the UPA*" to the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit.
The head of the Defense Ministry also announced a possible Russian provocation using Ukrainian drones, which were captured by the Russians. The politician noted that all the countries of the eastern flank of NATO are aware of this and are ready for such events. He added that Poland and Ukraine constantly exchange information and warn each other about potential threats.
"Another topic concerned the provocations of the Russian Federation. The Russians will continue to escalate the hybrid war by interfering with GPS, committing various sabotage and provocations using drones, for which they can use Ukrainian drones, which have been at the disposal of the Russian army in recent weeks, when Ukraine has intensified its actions aimed at destroying the critical infrastructure of the Russian Federation. These drones can be used for Russian provocations against the eastern flank of NATO, against the Baltic states, Finland, Romania, as well as against Poland," the Deputy Prime minister said.
At the same time, he stressed that it is impossible to predict all events 100%, which is why political and military cooperation between the allies and further investments in weapons, especially in the field of air defense, are so important.
The Deputy Prime Minister also recalled the recent agreements reached at the NATO summit in Ankara. He drew particular attention to the Alliance's plans to build pipelines to Central and Eastern Europe. The politician said that Warsaw will seek to ensure that the management center for the entire project is located in Poland.
