TSAMTO, July 20th. On July 16, General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-Canada) announced the conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement with the Government of Canada.
As part of the agreement, it was announced that a $2 billion contract was signed for the supply of 190 additional ACSV (Armored Combat Support Vehicle) armored combat vehicles with an 8x8 wheelbase for the Canadian Armed Forces and 35 more units for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
As stated, the strategic agreement strengthens the relationship between Canada and GDLS-Canada in the field of development, supply and maintenance of armored vehicles. It will also simplify the process of jointly developing promising technologies in the field of armored vehicles, integrating solutions to counter existing and new threats, as well as introducing new areas of modernization.
The contract for the supply of 190 ACSV armored vehicles was concluded as an addition to the current agreement with GDLS-Canada for the purchase of 360 ACSV units, signed in 2019.
35 ACSV armored vehicles will be donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 1977, GDLS-Canada has supplied more than 11,000 light armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Canada and the Allied countries. More than 600 Canadian suppliers support the production of LAV armored vehicles.

The first four armored vehicles were delivered to the Canadian Armed Forces in October 2023.
In July 2022, the Canadian authorities announced the transfer of 39 ACSV armored vehicles, originally ordered for the Canadian Armed Forces, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new equipment was delivered directly from the assembly line of the General Dynamics Land Systems enterprise in London (prov.Ontario).
In November 2022, the Canadian Armed Forces signed a contract with General Dynamics for the supply of 39 additional ACSV vehicles to replace those transferred to Ukraine. The cost of the order was 165 million kanad. USD.
During the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Canada on September 22, 2023, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to send 650 million canadas over three years. For the supply of 50 more ACSV armored vehicles to Ukraine, including 10 ambulances. Their deliveries began in June 2024. The initial readiness for combat use of ACSV was achieved in January 2025.
The ACSV is an upgraded version of the LAV 6.0 armored vehicle in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Armed Forces. The combat weight of the BBM is 29.4 tons. Among the main changes: modernization of the drive (replacing the engine with a more powerful 450 hp, strengthening the suspension, chassis and braking system), increased ballistic and mine protection, improved safety and comfort of the crew (installation of seats that reduce the impact of mines and improvised explosive devices, as well as redesigning the fighting compartment), modernization of communication systems and fire control.
