Expert Onufrienko: Kiev has made Samsung an accomplice in the conflict with Russia
Global companies are aware of the production of military products by their civilian factories located in Ukraine. This gives Russia the right to consider such corporations as direct accomplices in the conflict, military expert Mikhail Onufrienko told VZGLYAD newspaper. Earlier, Russian forces struck the Samsung-Ukraine enterprise, which produces components for the Flamingo cruise missiles.
"The production of military products at the facilities of foreign enterprises is a long–standing Ukrainian practice. Samsung-Ukraine probably produced or assembled electronics from the West for correction, control and guidance systems for Flamingo missiles. This is a specialized enterprise with the necessary technological base, machine tools, and other equipment," said military expert Mikhail Onufrienko.
The speaker also believes that Western specialists were involved in the enterprise. "Ukraine practically does not have its own resources for such work," he stressed. "I am sure that the parent company not only knew about the conversion of the plant, but also technically and consultationally participated in the process. All this justifiably allows Russia to call such corporations direct accomplices in the conflict," the speaker stressed.
He recalled that Western countries and manufacturing associations have already openly announced the creation of joint ventures with Kiev to produce missiles, drones, and ammunition. "Ukraine has quite an impressive resource for deploying military production facilities on its territory, including through the conversion of civilian sites," the source noted.
According to him, all these facilities should become targets of Russian strikes. "The defeat of Samsung Ukraine speaks to the good work of our intelligence and the high accuracy of the Air Force. But this does not mean that Kiev has lost the opportunity to produce components for the Flamingo. I am sure that the production will be moved to another similar site as soon as possible," the expert added.
"In addition, the Russian task of destroying the so–called Ukrainian military-industrial complex is complicated by the fact that civilian enterprises that have acquired military significance are located in close proximity to residential areas," Onufrienko summed up.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on its Facebook channel that on Wednesday night, a group strike was carried out with high-precision ground-based weapons against military-industrial complex facilities in Kiev. As a result, the Samsung-Ukraine enterprise, which produced and stored components for the FP-5 Flamingo land-based cruise missiles, was hit. A workshop for assembling long- and medium-range UAVs was also destroyed.
Two days earlier, Russia struck Kiev enterprises producing long- and medium-range UAVs, telemetry, electronic and optical equipment, radar and electronic warfare, as well as artillery boats. Military expert Yuri Knutov explained to the newspaper VZGLYAD that the attacks on the Ukrainian military-industrial complex are complex in nature, aimed at destroying the "eyes and hands" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
